Gioca Torino 2014

Thanks to my club I was involved into  GT 2014 an annual event in which it is possible to find wargame, role plays and so on.

My club prepared three tables:
- one dedicated to board games
- and other two for classic 3D wargames

The main table was prepared for Gripping Beast Saga: Scots against Vikings

... all miniatures on the tables, as well as trees, houses and ship were painted by other club's members. I'm preparing a Vikings force for Saga but this is another story ...

The other tables were prepared for paper simulation of Montebello battle ...

and for boardgame

It was a funny day with a lot of babies and persons

In the last months I was very busy for my work and so I used this event to paint some miniatures

Finally a pictures of all protagonists of the second day

La Rocca Implacabile

On Sept 14, 2014 a local club (Vendemmiatori Implacabili) asked us to take part of a event called "La Rocca implacabile" [The implacable stronghold]

It was the first edition and the event collected different ideas: role play, card games, wargames and so on.

The event was organized in the old stronghold of Verrua Savoia. An historical site not very far from my home.  Some written documents report the existence of a fort in that area in the 10th Century, but only in the 14th century, with the Savoy dynasty, the fort was reinforced significantly. The fortress withstood several sieges, even if, the most important one was during the war of the Spanish Succession (1704)

The real fortress dimension till Napoleonic wars
Today, only a little part of the rock is possilble to visit (the higher levels of the pictures above)

We prepared a Napoleonic scenario

(I'm on the right while my partner on the left is Riccardo)

I painted all the miniatures while the terrains are a part of La Piccola Armata stocks. The events attracked a lot of people and we stayed all the day to ... ...

... to speak of Napoleonic tactics and history

... and to teach Black Powder

It was an opportunity to meet a lot of people and to explain them what means to be keen of wargame. But now a look to the base of our hobby: the miniatures

Bolt action - Sept, 6

Last week I played my 3rd BA match.

The game has been the possibility to test my new DAK army list with 2 platoons and 2 panzer III. My enemy were a mix of American and English rookies in a late IIWW landascape.

All miniatures were 1/72. I painted the Germans and the British, the Americans were prepared by my opponent: Valter

The scenario was standard: a tactical objective (respesented by a red flag) in the middle of the table to rescue.

The match was also the opportunity to verify the new rules for recce and flame throwers. In August, a member of my club, met Alessio Cavatore and so we start to apply the new rules. Obviously I'm a inexeperienced gamer but it seems that the new rules work better ... the game is more balanced ... but now a very quick battle report.

This time I deployed the tanks in the right moment  (at the end of the 1st turn round after the enemy sherman) but I was unlucky. Five of twelve units did not pass the morale test (so I had not to deploy them) and both my two panzer failed a 4+ to hit. On contrary the sherman destroyed one of the tanks at the first hit.

The remaining 5 rounds were a continous massacre at the middle of the table with ...

... one of my unit that conquered the target for first ... one of my veteran unit completed destroyed by an English company in a suicide hand to hand attack ...

... my second tank failed, for five times, to hit the sherman only to be destroyed by him definetely at the 6th round ...

... and an isolated American paratrooper that brought the flag at home.

But now a look at the other tables with some miniatures of Piccola Armata members.

Game World Day 2014

In Turin, on June 1, 2014, it was held the Game World Day. My club (La piccola armata) was involved in the event with a couple of demonstrative tables.

The themes of the year were: the Studio-Tomahawk's rulebook (Saga) …

… and an ACW house rule system prepared by one of club members.

The location was one of the historical square of Turin. The building in the photo is rear of “Palazzo Carignano” where there is the first Italian parliament.

There were, obviously, many children attract by the miniatures world ...

…  my position was the usual … the painting table

It was a very funny day but, as all public events, this day was not possible without the help and the willpower of many people

A brief note for the SAGA table and the Vikings vessel:  they were prepared by one of club member and, from this prospective, I think it is possible to admire better his skills.
