French Indian Wars battle report

FRENCH INDIAN WARS
[October 5, 2013]


Introduction
Months ago - initially for joke – we start a project on French-Indian wars. Under the coordination of a club member – Ezio -  four of us started to prepare a small force to play at this period. Personally I have to prepare Lasarre French regiment and an Indian warband. We are still painting miniatures but, in September/October, we  prepared a quick scenario applying “Last argument of King" mechanisms.
The scenario is simple and fast to prepare: a French force attacks English regular troops in open ground not very far from an American village. In the meanwhile Huron war bands, supported by small Companies Franche de Marine, try to burn the village defended by colonial militia.

House rules:
A brigade is considered “shaken” when all units Large, Standard or Small will be destroyed or reach the shaken status. Tiny units are not considerated in this calculation.

Turns limit: 8

Deployment: French force moves for first

Armies objectives:
French army:
to break all 3 English brigades [main victory]
to have less broken or destroyed brigades than your enemy at the end of 8th turn [minor victory]
               
English victory
to break all 3 French brigates [main victory]
to have less broken or destroyed brigates than your enemy at the end of 8th turn [minor victory]


Miniatures scale: 28 mm

Total miniatures
French side: 3 commanders, 104 infantry men
English side: 3 commanders, 109  infantry men 


Battle report
Forces are on the field the battle begins ...

French are coming and the settlers are preparing to defend their homes


On the other side La Sarre regiment are approaching supported by a small Huron force. The English starts with their platoon fire that keep stuck the French


Indians are close and the colonial militia plays his part


On the hill the La Sarre, the 60th and the 44th are fighting hard


The 55th forces Indians to move back and start to treathen the La Sarre's left. The French are force to move back


Near the town the struggle continues but militia and settlers keep the line.


In the last turns French commanders send a group of coureurs de bois against the 60th rear but it it too late … French have lost

End: English minor victory (two French brigades broken against a 3 Tiny units destroyed on the English side)

Notes
Scenario and miniatures are prepared by La Piccola Armata members. Ezio and Giancarlo create the scenario while miniatures are painted by Marco G., Giancarlo, Ezio and ... me or better ...  my contribution are the three miniatures with the round wrong bases (!)
